Harding Men's Basketball Signs Oklahoma Transfer Austin Mankin

SEARCY - Austin Mankin, a member of the 2015-16 University of Oklahoma men's basketball team that reached the NCAA Final Four, will transfer to Harding to play his senior season and pursue his Master of Business Administration degree. Mankin, of Coppell, Texas, played in 34 games in his three seasons at Oklahoma, including the Sooners' national semifinal game against Villanova.
A 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, Mankin was a North Texas Basketball Coaches' Association All-Star as a senior Coppell High School in 2012. He made 53 3-pointers and shot 41.8 percent from 3-point range that season, averaging 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds. Mankin earned second-team all-district and honorable mention all-state honors.
Mankin, who majored in communications at Oklahoma, earned Academic All-Big 12 honors. He was also listed on the University of Oklahoma Dean's Honor Roll and the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Mankin will have one year of eligibility with head coach Jeff Morgan's Bisons. He is Harding's third Division I transfer to graduate and join the Bisons as a graduate student. The other two were Brandon Sims, who transferred from Creighton and played for two seasons from 2005-07, and Andrew Silverman, who transferred from Central Arkansas and played in 2011-12.
