Advocacy group says workers are in "climate of fear"

(KAIT) - A report from an advocacy group says that poultry workers in the United States, including at an Arkansas plant, are in a "climate of fear."

In a report from advocacy group Oxfam, many workers are afraid to ask to go the bathroom.

A worker at a Simmons Foods plant in Arkansas told the group that she and others have resorted to wearing diapers, and a worker at a Tyson Foods plant in North Carolina said that many workers "have urinated in their pants."

Simmons Foods did not have an immediate comment, but Tyson said they are concerned by the claims.

Tyson also said there is not any evidence that the claims are true.

While the National Chicken Council says they are "troubled" by the claims, they believe that "such instances are extremely rare."
