JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Agents with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) arrested a Jonesboro man after they delivered more than 134 pounds of marijuana to his apartment.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notified DTF agents on Wednesday that they had intercepted a package shipped from Mexico to Jonesboro, according to a news release from the Jonesboro Police Department.

DHS determined the package contained 61 kilograms, or 134.2 pounds, of marijuana.

On Thursday DTF and DHS agents posing as delivery company employees took the package to an address on Stone Street where Alberto Gomez-Reyes, 52, reportedly signed for the package and had the agents place it in the back of his truck.

Agents then identified themselves and arrested Gomez-Reyes on suspicion of possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver.

He is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a temporary bond of $500,000 pending a probable cause hearing set for Monday in Craighead County District Court.
