Wanted teen leads Jonesboro police on chase

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested an armed teen Saturday after they got a call he was shooting a gun in town.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, officers spotted the 17-year-old boy in the 1800-block of Cedar Heights around 10 a.m.

An officer demanded the teen to put his hands up, but he ran from police instead.

The incident report states that police caught the boy, but he tossed a pistol into nearby bushes.

Police found the gun loaded with six rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

He was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where he faces misdemeanor charges of fleeing, obstructing governmental operations, and possession of a handgun by a minor.

The 17-year-old boy also has a felony bench warrant.
