2 killed in weekend shooting, sheriff's office investigating

A sheriff's office is investigating after two men died in a weekend shooting.

Deputies were called to a reported shooting in the 4300-block of Heber Springs Road West in Quitman around 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office.

Once on scene, deputies found 21-year-old Sawyer New and 55-year-old Tim New, the sheriff's office states. Both men were from Cleburne County.

The men had suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The bodies of the men have been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.

This shooting remains under investigation and the sheriff's office states more facts will be released "as they become available."
