HORNERSVILLE, MO -

The Hornersville mayor is working to give the local river landing a makeover.

The Hornersville Little River Landing has not been renovated in several years.

Mayor Bub Foresythe said the city planned on fixing up the area so more residents can enjoy it.

“We want to bring more people to Hornersville,” Foresythe said.

He hopes to pave some of the gravel roads and replace worn out items around the landing, such as wood and signs.

Foresythe said there was also a bigger project in mind.

“We are looking into adding a handicap fishing and hunting area,” he said.

He is working closely with an engineer to develop that plan.

It will include a floating pier designed for veterans and other physically challenged people.

Resident Greg Fletcher said his physically challenged brother spends a lot of time at the river landing.

He said having this type of access would be much more comfortable for him.

“It would really be a benefit to him and other people having difficulties getting up and down this ramp,” Fletcher said.

Foresythe said he will continue meeting with the engineer and that things are headed in the right direction.
