Police: Man endangered minor by breaking window

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A deputy arrested a Jonesboro man Saturday after he broke a car window while holding a young child.

According to a Craighead County Sheriff's Department incident report, deputies responded to a disturbance around 12:03 a.m. in the 200-block of Michael Street in Bono.

Deputy Matt Clairday talked to two women at the scene.

They told him Cody Wayne Wilkey, 24, had been drinking and got mad because one of the women was going to leave.

The report stated he took his son out of his car seat in her van. Wilkey then broke the van window with his elbow while still holding the child.

The report never stated the age of the child.

Deputy Clairday said the glass from the window was all over the front dash, in the passenger's seat and in the driveway.

Wilkey was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

He will be in court May 17.
