CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The Craighead County Sheriff's Department investigated a call of shots fired Friday night.

According to an incident report from the sheriff's office, a deputy responded to County Road 560 in Monette around 10:33 p.m.

When the deputy arrived, he talked to a man who said he and his sister were riding an ATV in the area.

The man stated that they came up to a house, so he turned his headlights off to avoid shining the light in the home.

While turning around, the man said he heard a loud "pop" noise.

He said he saw a man standing on the house's porch holding what appeared to be a long gun.

Wallace advised he heard two more “pop” sounds he believed to be gunshots.

The deputy went to the house the man described.

He met with the homeowner, who said he had been sleeping for almost an hour and did not fire any weapons.

He also said he didn't hear any gunshots or see an ATV.

No shell casings were found at the home.
