New police chief needs more training to serve

Hornersville working to get a new police chief

HORNERSVILLE, MO - The Hornersville Police Department has been left without a chief since last September.

The city has a candidate in mind, but he doesn't meet the qualifications for the position.

In a recent election, Michael Biby got the most votes for the police chief's position.

Mayor Bub Foresythe said Biby is currently looking at schools to attend so he can get qualified.

Foresythe said Biby is required to complete training within six months but said it may take longer than that.

"It is impossible to do all of it within six months, so the city will have to work with him on time," Foresythe said. "The start dated back to April 5 from the election, so you know you can't do six months of school in less than six months."

Foresythe said once qualifications are met, Biby can then be sworn in as chief.

He said he believes Biby will be a great leader in the police department.
