CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) -

Caruthersville police took to social media this week to warn residents about two suspicious men near the area.

Dyer County, Tennessee authorities alerted the Caruthersville Police Department the men reportedly tried to lure young girls into their car.

According to a Facebook post by Caruthersville police, the men in the car were waving two 11-year-old girls over to them and then asked them inappropriate questions.

The post stated they were spotted in a silver Mustang with a black stripe.

Caruthersville Elementary staff kept their eyes peeled while students attended a field day on Wednesday.

Assistant Principal Misty Rhine said they have taught their students exactly what to do if they see a suspicious person around school property.

Rhine asks parents to be aware of their surroundings as well when they pick up their children.

“When you're outside loading cars, if you see a person meeting this description, then jump at action,” Rhine said. “Get the children inside or just report to one of us, and then we can get a hold of CPD.”

Police ask that anyone who sees a car matching the description or other suspicious activity to call the police department at (573) 333-2121.
