Blytheville City Council discusses police pay

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - The Blytheville City Council met Wednesday to discuss police pay.

This comes just days after we first reported that Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson wanted to find a way to retain his officers.

Thompson said the department was fully staffed with 58 officers 12 years ago.

Now, their entire staff consists of 39 officers, with 33 of those positions currently filled.

Finance Director John Callens said the council held a meeting to discuss all options to increase salary and what it would take to get competitive pay.
