PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - A local Eagle Scout went above and beyond to receive his merit badge.

For Luke Atwill to earn his merit badge, he had to come up with a project to give back to his community.

Atwill and his band held a concert in April to raise money for instruments to donate to the Children's Home in Paragould.

They charged $5 per person and raised far more money than anticipated.

Atwill and his band were able to buy a significant amount of instruments.

Atwill said he decided to do this because it is special to him.

"But something that was really close to me: music," said Luke Atwill. "I felt like this just fit perfectly so me and my band mates decided that we would put on a benefit concert to use all of the proceeds from that to buy instruments and then present them to the children's home."

Atwill said his work isn't done either; he plans to give the kids music lessons so he can help them continue to learn how to play their new instrument.
