JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro business worked on Saturday to show service members how grateful Region 8 residents are for what they do.

Gearhead Outfitters held their second annual Operation Gratitude event at the Mall at Turtle Creek.

Operation Gratitude is a nonprofit organization based in California.

Businesses around the country participate in year-round events with the group to support soldiers.

"We picked this event because several of our team members have family members that are in the service," Manager Kaley Golden said.

Several people stopped by the food court to write thank you letters to men and women serving our country.

Golden said this event is especially important to her because her brother is in the United States Marine Corp.

She hopes the event continues to grow in years to come.

"Operation Gratitude, their goal is to get as many care packages out there as possible," Golden said. "It's just a little token of home to our soldiers."

The care packages will be sent overseas to soldiers from all across the United States.

Gearhead collected donations and several hundred letters at Saturday's event.
