GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Greene County cub scouts pack decided to honor one of their fallen scout members.

Christopher Scott passed away in a fire in 2014.

His cub scout friends from Pack 599 wanted to find a way to honor Christopher and the memory he left behind.

The pack decided to remember him through a buddy bench.

"He was very dear to them and they kind of hold him in their hearts so when we decided to do this they wanted to do it in memory of him" pack leader Adam Hunt said.

Hunt said it was amazing to see such young men making a sincere effort to honor one of their friends.

"To see them come together basically as a family and always include him even though he is not here physically with us, it has been very astounding that these boys in fifth grade now can think that way," Hunt said.

The pack donated the bench to Greene County Tech Elementary on Friday.

Principal Vonnie Greer said the bench is a wonderful addition to the playground, but an even better memorial.

Greer said Christopher's second and third-grade teachers were very touched by the bench as well.

"It is very sentimental to them," Greer said. "It still brings tears to their eyes because Christopher was a very special young man and he will always be remembered."
