JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Craighead County is now under a flash flood emergency according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

That is because of the large amount of rainfall over the past couple hours.

Jonesboro police are closing several roads because of flooding.

According to Jonesboro E911, the areas of Matthews and Madison, Caraway and Race, and Phillips Drive are closed because of high water.

Police are helping stranded drivers at Caraway and Race Streets now. A car is also stranded at the intersection of Matthews and Madison.

According to E911, the water at Race and Red Wolf Boulevard is now 8 inches deep.

Wilkins Street behind Kroger is also closed along with lanes on North Church Street.

Use caution while driving in the storm and please do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.

Police are also searching for a teen who was swept away in deep flood water.
