Kidnapping victim calls 911, found with several injuries

LAKEVIEW, AR (KAIT) - A man is in jail after his apparent kidnapping victim called for help.

David Turner Gengler, 54, of Lakeview was arrested on felony kidnapping and domestic battery charges, according to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.

Montgomery states a 54-year-old woman called 911 around 9:55 p.m. Tuesday from a house on Greenwood Avenue in Lakeview.

Officers reportedly found the woman lying on the floor by the front door.

She had marks on her wrists "as if she had been bound and was covered with injuries and possible cigarette burns," according to Montgomery.

Officers also found blood spatters on the walls along with a "large amount" of tape on the bathroom floor.

Gengler was at the residence and officers found he and the woman lived there together.

The sheriff states other evidence showed the woman had been "confined, tied up, and that injuries had been intentionally inflicted" on her.

She was taken to a Mountain Home hospital with serious injuries, then moved to a hospital in Springfield, MO.

Gengler is being held on $250,000 bond and will appear in circuit court on June 2.

A no-contact order requires Gengler to stay away from the victim.
