WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) -

Children received a couple of surprises Wednesday, one with wheels and the other wearing a crown.

Bess the Book Bus and Miss Arkansas 2015 visited children at the Arkansas State University Early Learning Center in West Memphis Wednesday morning.

Bess the Book Bus is a program dedicated to reading to children, promoting literacy, and getting books in to the homes of underprivileged children and families across the country.

Miss Arkansas 2015 Loren McDaniel read a book to the kids, and each child went home with a book.

According to Laci Owens, Family Services Manager at ASU Early Learning Center in West Memphis, Bess the Book Bus partnered with CITGO in their Fueling Good program, which allows the busy to visit children across the United States.

Owens said it was an opportunity to bring the joys of reading to children at a young age.
