JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Animal Control picked up several lost pets after flooding in Jonesboro Tuesday night.

Animal Control Officer Mathew Gragg said they picked up many more lost pets Wednesday than they usually do.

He said knocked over fences or gates are mostly to blame for outside pets getting loose.

Fortunately, some families have come and got their pets but some are still waiting at animal control.

"If you don't have to be out in this, don't get out in this," Gragg said. "Not a lot of cars are going to make it through this water. If you're out looking for your pet, call us. We will come out and help. There's no need to put yourself in danger."

Gragg said if you have a pet outside and you notice it is starting to flood, do not keep them outside.

Anyone needing animal control's help finding a lost pet can contact them at (870) 935-3920.
