Humane society needs air conditioning

Animals need help due to heat at Humane Society

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Northeast Arkansas Humane Society in Jonesboro has been working on raising money for a new air conditioning unit.

Executive Director Margaret Shepherd said it is critical they get this new unit soon.

"Without the air conditioning, it's hard to get the kennels dry for instance and if the kennels aren't dry and we put the dogs back in wet kennels they're very susceptible to getting skin infections," Shepherd said.

She said they are doing the best they can by running fans, but soon the summer weather will make the shelter too hot to handle.

If you would like to help, you can make a donation online or call the NEA Humane Society at (870) 932-5185.
