TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) -

Trumann police arrested a 26-year-old man after they say he raped a 13-year-old girl.

Officers arrested Corneless “Fufu” Jones on Tuesday, May 24, at a home in the 500-block of Monroe.

According to the initial incident report, the alleged victim’s parents reported the rape on April 28.

They told police the alleged incident occurred sometime in January or February.

The victim’s mother provided police with screenshots of phone conversations between her 13-year-old daughter, Jones and another woman.

The officer then contacted the Arkansas Child Abuse Hot Line.

On May 11, an Arkansas State Police investigator interviewed the victim who admitted to having sex with Jones at his former residence on Pine Avenue, the report stated.

On Wednesday, May 25, Jones appeared before Poinsett County District Court Judge Ron Hunter who found probable cause to charge Jones with the rape of a person less than 14 years old.

Hunter set his bond at $200,000 cash or surety.

Jones remains in custody at the Poinsett County Detention Center.
