BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Blytheville police arrested two juveniles and are looking for three others after an assault and chase.
According to Captain Scott Adams with Blytheville police, officers were called to Capri Apartments around 8:00 Wednesday night after receiving a call about juveniles harassing another juvenile.
The victim told officers that five juveniles knocked on his apartment window and then left headed south on the railroad tracks. The victim also said that it was the same people who harassed him a few days earlier.
Officers in the area noticed five juveniles walking west on Hutson Street.
A 16-year-old took off running from the officers.
Police were able to catch the teen in the 500-block of North 5th Street.
During the chase, the teenager dropped a backpack.
While officers chased the 16-year-old, the others fled across 6th Street.
Officers were able to catch a 14-year-old at the corner of Madison Street and Willow Street.
The other three juveniles were able to escape, but officers were able to identify them and hope to issue warrants for their arrest.
Inside the 16-year-old's backpack, officers found two semi-automatic handguns with the serial number scratched off and a red and black bandana that the suspect said was "his colors."
Both the 16-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with fleeing, possession of firearm by minor, possession of a defaced firearm, engaging in violent gang activity and curfew violation.
The 16-year-old also told police he should have shot the officer that was chasing him, according to Adams.
Both were taken to the Mississippi County Juvenile Detention Center.
