INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Independence County Library may have a new home.
The library board have been looking at several different locations in Batesville to move the library.
The board said the current location in the old courthouse is too small and is getting overcrowded.
Independence County and the city of Batesville recently came to an agreement for the city to sell the old Barnett Building to the county for library use.
County Judge Robert Griffin said the county will pay the expenses the city put in to improve the building.
Some of the expenses include lighting fixes and elevator updates.
Griffin said the deal is not yet done. The county will have to approve the purchase at the next Quorum Court meeting.
