JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - There are 14.5 million people living with cancer in the United States and more than 32 million cancer survivors worldwide.

Those statistics come from the National Cancer Survivor's Day website.

On Sunday, June 5, Region 8 will honor cancer survivors and their families.

Cancer Survivor Day is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the NEA Baptist Fowler Family Center for Cancer Care located at 4808 E. Johnson in Jonesboro.

Organizers invite family and friends to enjoy barbeque, fun, door prizes, and other activities.

This has become an annual event in Jonesboro.

Those who've attended in the past said the event brings hope to cancer survivors and their families, proving a cancer diagnosis is not a life sentence.
