Technicality Reduces Sentence of Carolina Man Convicted of Molesting Greene County Girl

DURHAM, NC - A North Carolina man convicted for molesting a 13-year-old Greene County girl has had several years lopped off his decades-long prison sentence.

Vincent Percy Quinn, 62, had his sentence reduced from between 65 and 81 years to between 58 and roughly 72 years because of a legal technicality.

But prosecutors said they're still happy with the new sentence because Quinn will probably still spend the rest of his life in prison.

Quinn received the original sentence after being convicted in Durham County Superior Court of kidnapping sexually molesting a 13-year-old northeast Arkansas girl he met on the Internet.

The teenager testified at Quinn's trial that they met in an Internet chat room for teens.  She said they communicated for about a year until he picked her up outside her Marmaduke home in September 2001.
