LUXORA, AR (KAIT) -

A man who escaped from jail last week in Mississippi County is now back in custody and held on a $100,000 bond.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook, Wendell Shields, 32, of Blytheville is back in custody as of Saturday evening.

Sheriff Cook said Blytheville police received an anonymous tip that Shields was spotted on North Franklin Street.

Police and a sheriff's deputy responded and found him hiding in bushes in the 100-block of North Franklin.

He was taken into custody around 7:15.

Shields was originally arrested by Blytheville police for commercial burglary, theft and robbery. He has also been arrested on numerous other charges.

Sheriff Cook said Shields escaped from the exercise area of the jail.

Deputies had been searching for him since about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It was believed Shields got a ride to Osceola from a local disposal company driver.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond for escape plus $75,000 bond out of Blytheville for the previous charges.

Sheriff Cook said Shields will be transferred to the Arkansas Department of Correction next week.
