JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department recognized one of their own for his efforts in arresting a man on murder charges.
According to Paul Holmes, public information officer, Det. Jason Simpkins was named the Jonesboro Police Department Officer of the Month for April.
Simpkins was investigating the murder case of Iesha Hicks, who was 25-years old when she was shot dead. A suspect was later arrested.
The department recognized Simpkins for his thorough investigation. When Simpkins conducted the initial interview with two people across the street from the shooting, he then went back and interviewed the witnesses again, gaining "a confession from one of the neighbors", according to a news release.
"Because of his hard work, skill and creative interview techniques, the victim's family will have justice and the person responsible for the crime will face the consequences of his acts," Lt. Steve McDaniel said of Simpkins.
