According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, officers were called to the 2000-block of Belt Street on Wednesday just before 6:30 in the evening after getting a call of a stabbing.
When police arrived, they spoke with the victim, Matthew Young, who said his wife, Jamie Cromwell, 32, accused him of having a sexual relationship with her sister Jennifer Cromwell.
Young said he went inside the house to check on his wife and kids.
He said his wife had been drinking and tried to get rid of her drink by pouring it down the sink.
That was when, Young said, she grabbed a knife and started swinging it at him, cutting him on the elbow.
Officers called EMS to the scene but Young refused treatment.
Young also said that his wife threw a drinking glass at him.
Officers also talked with Jennifer Cromwell who said that Young entered the house and was attacked by her sister.
When officers spoke with Jamie, they noticed a strong odor of intoxicants on her breath and some minor cuts on her hand.
She told police that Young was having a sexual relationship with her sister.
She also said that Young came into the house and she was afraid that he was going to attack her.
That was when she said she grabbed the knife to defend herself and that Young attacked her.
She said that she cut her hand during the attack and also cut Young's arm.
Officers searched the bedroom with Young's consent and found a large knife hidden in the comforter on the bed.
