Failed robbery leads to shooting Monday

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Blytheville police are investigating a shooting that happened after a failed attempt to rob a cab driver.

According to Assistant Chief Ricky Jefferson with Blytheville police, it happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday.

A City Cab employee told officers he was called to pick up someone in the 1100-block of South Franklin.

An unknown man reportedly opened the passenger side door and pointed a handgun at the cab driver once he arrived.

The driver said the man demanded money so he drove away.

The man then reportedly fired one shot, which hit the back glass of the vehicle.

The bullet traveled through two back seats of the vehicle and was found in the seat behind the driver's seat.

The suspect is described as a black man who is approximately 6'1" and 165 pounds.

He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and a red bandana on his head at the time of the shooting.

He also had a blue cloth covering the bottom part of his face.
