JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The climbing wall at Earl Bell Community Center is now open an extra day for climbers.

The Crag will now be open on Fridays, which is an addition to the current days of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Climbing instructor Caleb Brown said over the years more people have come in wanting to climb so they decided to add another day.

"We have a variety of dedicated rock climbers and then people who are coming in for the first time who just want to try it," Brown said.

He said Friday made the most sense so people can enjoy the activity as their weekend starts.

"We thought opening for another day would open up an opportunity for the people to train or to have a cool date night for somebody on a Friday before they go out downtown, we thought it was a good opportunity for us," Brown said.

He said the climbing gym is also a good place for families in the summer.

"It is a good place to come and spend a little bit of time for physical activity, and it is just a good way to stay active in the summer without being out in the beating down heat," Brown said.

The gym hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Brown said those hours help accommodate the working climber.
