Man seriously injured after jumping out of car

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A man in Mountain Home was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after authorities say he jumped from a moving car.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, Shane Lee Thomas, 19, was in a car on Highway 5 South in the Briarcliff area on June 4.

A short time later, a call came in at the 911 center claiming a man had jumped from a car and was lying unresponsive in the road.

A person in the vehicle with Thomas said the car was going around 30 mph when Thomas jumped out.

Another person in the car also jumped out after Thomas to help him after the car slowed down, according to the sheriff's office.

Thomas was airlifted to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

No other people were injured in the incident.
