JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - UPDATE: Demolition of the Parish Hall downtown began Monday.

Workers will begin tearing down the old Blessed Sacrament School next.

St. Bernards Medical Center recently acquired the two properties.

When both structures are down, the hospital will build a helipad in the area.

The helipad will mainly be used for emergency department access.

Parts of downtown Jonesboro may look different in the coming weeks.

Demolition of the old Blessed Sacrament School and Parish Hall will get underway soon.

Some parts of the buildings have already been removed.

Demolition is expected to begin sometime this month.

As for the church building, the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock will be responsible for its demolition.

That demolition isn't expected to happen for a while.
