Paragould man charged with sexually assaulting teen

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Greene County sheriff's investigators arrested a man after they say he confessed to having sex with a teenaged girl.

Christopher Scott Angeli, 21, of Paragould is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault.

According to the initial incident report, on May 20, the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline received a report of sexual assault from a counselor at Mid-South Health Systems.

The counselor stated the victim, a 15-year-old girl, had sexual intercourse with Angeli sometime in April and the two planned to have sex again that night.

The report was sent to an ASP Investigator and Detective Jack Hailey of the Paragould Police Department.

Realizing the incident occurred outside city limits, Hailey forwarded the information to the sheriff's office.

On June 1, Investigator Tony Rowe used the information to obtain a probable cause affidavit for Angeli's arrest.

Rowe found Angeli at a home in the 1500-block of Greene 808 Road and arrested him.

At the Greene County Sheriff's Department Rowe read Angeli his Miranda rights and questioned him.

During the interview, Rowe stated Angeli "confessed to knowing [the victim] was 15 years old and having sex with her."

Angeli is currently awaiting a June 29 court hearing.
