JACKSON COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A car crash led to a drug arrest and finding a stolen car in Jackson County early Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from Captain Ricky Morales with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a crash around 4 a.m. on State Highway 14 East, near Amagon.
While investigating the crash, Lt. Matt Sanford did a pat-down search of Donovan Jones, 30, of Smithville.
During the search, Lt. Sanford found a syringe on Jones.
Jones then ran away and was caught moments later.
He was found in possession of approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine, 8 grams of marijuana, two syringes, and digital scales.
Jones appeared in Newport District Court Wednesday and is charged with felonies for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft by receiving.
He is also facing misdemeanors for possession of marijuana, fleeing on foot and resisting arrest.
His bond was set at $70,000.
While investigating the crash, deputies discovered Jones was driving a stolen vehicle from Paragould.
He was also on active parole when it happened.
Jones is scheduled to appear in court June 22.
