Man seriously injured in blowout on U.S. 412

HAYTI, MO (KAIT) - A tire blowout sent a pickup truck slamming into a pole and a man and a child to the hospital.

The crash happened at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 412, one mile west of Hayti, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Garrett C. Boss, 48, of Caruthersville was traveling eastbound when a tire blew out on his 2000 Chevy Silverado.

The pickup truck veered off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and overturned.

Boss was taken by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital then transferred by helicopter to Regional One Health in Memphis with serious injuries.

His passenger, 9-year-old Gavin C. Boss, was taken by ambulance to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. According to the crash report, he did not have any injuries.

Both occupants were wearing their seat belts.
