LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials boast record proceeds and sales figures this May.

ASL sent its monthly accounting report to the Arkansas State Legislature on Friday, which showed May lottery proceeds were more than $207,000 above budget at $6,606,165.

Those numbers put the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery on track to exceed sales projections for 21 of the last 22 months, according to ASL Director Bishop Woosley.

The 2016 fiscal year concludes June 30, and year-to-date proceeds are $74,134,891, more than $5.3 million above budget, and more than $10 million above the same period last year.

At $420,666,904 through May, total lottery sales (which combine draw games sales with instant ticket sales) have exceeded the 2015 fiscal year's total sales figure of $408,663,380.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s draw game sales have reached an all-time high as well, with year-to-date sales at $88,870,397 through May, more than $1.2 million ahead of the previous draw games sales record of $87,657,850, set in the 2014 fiscal year.

“Of course, we love beating our records,” Woosley said. “But, the best part is all this translates to more scholarship money for college-bound Arkansas students.”

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
