Craighead County declared disaster area by Governor Hutchinson

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Governor Asa Hutchinson has declared Craighead County a disaster area due to the flooding that occurred on May 24.

According to a press release from the Craighead County Office of Emergency Management, the state’s Public Assistance Program and Individual Assistance Program has been authorized to help eligible applicants.

The Public Assistance Program will let governmental organizations apply for help for emergency work and repair or replacement of uninsured facilities that were damaged during the flooding.

The Individual Assistance Program allows homeowners and renters whose home were damaged and had eligible uninsured losses to apply for assistance.

Businesses, secondary homes, vacation homes and outbuildings are not eligible for assistance from the state.

The release says that a call center will soon be set up for residents in Craighead County to get more information and to apply for assistance.
