JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police arrested a man Friday night after he led officers on a chase through Craighead County.

According to the incident report, an officer tried to pull over 33-year-old Kent Rivera on East Johnson after he was seen going 71 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Rivera was also driving with his lights off.

He sped away from the Jonesboro officer, driving in the turning lane and swerving toward oncoming traffic several times.

Brookland police joined in the chase and Arkansas State Police deployed spike strips, which hit all four of Rivera's tires.

The chase ended near Brookland.

Police found drugs in his Chevrolet Suburban, and Rivera also admitted to eating some.

After being checked out at the hospital, Jonesboro police took him to the Craighead County Detention Center.

Rivera is charged with fleeing, speeding, driving without lights and possession of methamphetamine or cocaine.
