Jonesboro Police Arrest Woman For Providing Alcohol To Minors

April 16, 2005 -- Posted at 8:30 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO -- Just before 10: 00 p.m. last night the street crimes unit of the Jonesboro Police Department responded to a complaint on Hudson Drive in Jonesboro.

Police say they arrived to numerous teenagerss in the yard, and the smell of alcohol in the air.

"We contacted a lady here that lives here, and she advised me that they were having a party for the kids--they did have liquor available to the kids and she was arrested at the time," said Lt. Roy Coleman.

Tonya Curtis is the owner of the home and the adult police say throwing the party.

Among the charges against her,  knowingly furnishing or selling to a minor, and contributing to the deliquency of a minor.

"We do have a list. We don't have an exact head count. I'd say 85 to 90 probably," said Coleman.

Police say they recovered kegs at the party and evidence indicating the teens paid money to get inside of the party.

There were six juveniles cited to juvenile court for minor possession of alcohol.

"Over a 20 year career, this has probably been the biggest one where the parent was actively involved in supplying liquor to the kids," said Coleman.
