Sheriff: AR-15, thousand rounds of ammo stolen from home

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Sheriff's investigators say burglars who broke into a Craighead County home made off with an AR-15 rifle and 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

The homeowner, who is a Jonesboro firefighter, reported the theft shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the initial incident report, the man and his wife returned to their home on County Road 42544 to find the garage door open.

The burglars apparently broke the back door glass to gain entry to the home.

Once inside, the thieves stole a DPMS AR-15 valued at $600 along with 1,000 rounds of AR-15 ammunition valued at $350.

The homeowner also reported the crooks stole a Ruger 10-22 Takedown rifle, as well as two laptop computers and an iPhone.
