GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Improvements are on the way to Greene County.
Greene County Judge Rusty McMillan said the Northeast Greene County Fire District was awarded a $15,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Rural Services.
McMillan said the grant would be used to get the crews new turnout gear.
Turnout gear is made out of flame-retardant material and is used when crews fight fires.
The county also received a $11,900 grant for security improvements at the courthouse.
McMillan said the money will be used for active shooter training and other security upgrades at the courthouse.
