Trucker killed in early morning crash

ARBYRD, MO (KAIT) -

A Region 8 truck driver died early Monday morning when his big rig overturned.

The crash happened at 2:05 a.m. on U.S. Highway 412, two miles north of Cardwell.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 56-year-old Mark Higgins of Arbyrd was westbound when his 2006 Freightliner ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

Dunklin County Coroner James Powell pronounced Higgins dead at the scene at 4:40 a.m.

MSHP reports Higgins, who was wearing a seat belt, is Troop E’s 28th fatality this year.
