BPD cruiser shot, police searching for culprit

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - The latest victim in a series of shootings in Blytheville: a police cruiser.

Early Sunday morning, while investigating reports of shots fired in the area of Robindale Road and Hollywood Street, officers discovered someone had shot the bumper of a Blytheville Police Department vehicle.

Chief Ross Thompson said the vehicle was parked and not in service at the time.

He called it a "serious offense" and said officers are "currently following up on some significant leads."

The police department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
