Fire Destroys part of Hope Arkansas High School

A fire has destroyed a newly constructed computer lab and a library at Hope High school this morning.

School has been canceled until further notice for 9-12 graders.

Fire crews from at least 5 Southwest Arkansas towns had to fight the blaze.

A district Technology Coordinator said computer data has been backed up, but the school's over-ground fiber optic network has burned completely.

The new computer lab installed with grant money was received this year.

The fire apparently began at around 6 this morning.

When fire crews arrived they found a broken window in the old cafeteria.

The Hope Fire Department has requested an arson investigation by the state police.
