Jonesboro's planning director resigns after 10 years

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The City of Jonesboro's Planning Director Otis Spriggs announced his resignation Monday.

Spriggs said he will be moving to the greater Houston area to be a development director, putting him closer to his family in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"Working with the City of Jonesboro has been a wonderful experience for me," said Spriggs, "It has afforded me many opportunities to learn and grow during this important stage of my career. I am very grateful to have been a part of this administration."

One of Spriggs' biggest projects was digitizing city records.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin said replacing Spriggs will be difficult, but a priority.

"Good certified planners are hard to come by. We can't replace Otis," Perrin said. "We'll just find the best candidate we can to fill his position."

Spriggs has worked for the city since 2006.
