MEMPHIS, TN (KAIT) -

Make-A-Wish Mid-South recently granted wish number 5,000.

The wish was granted in Memphis Tuesday. The wish kid, William, is from Nashville.

Regions Bank and Confluent Strategies sponsored the wish.

Thirteen-year-old William wants to ride in a helicopter in Hawaii.

His wish will come true in four days, when his family leaves for the trip of a lifetime.

William was diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumor about a year ago.

“When you think about Make-A-Wish you can’t believe what they do for the family, for the child,” Marda Wallace, William’s mother, said. “It’s actually something they can look forward to and it takes their mind off. And it actually takes the family’s mind off what they’re going through.”

Many of Make-A-Wish’s 5,000 wishes have been granted in Region 8.

The organization said they are thankful for the volunteers, staff and wish families across Northeast Arkansas.
