MARKED TREE, AR (KAIT) - A local nursing home gave back to the Marked Tree Police Department in an attempt to make their day-to-day work a little easier.

Marked Tree Police Chief Jerry Lung said Tuesday that his department will no longer have to rely on just one finger print kit, they now have six. That makes one for each patrol unit.

They received a check from the Three Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marked Tree to buy the kits.

Lung said the nursing home has taken very good care of his department.

People from the facility overheard about the need in a recent city council meeting and were quick to help the department.

Lung said having these will make working a crime scene much easier for his officers.

"They were having to leave a crime scene and come back and get the finger print kit and then go back out to the crime scene," Lung said. "A lot of times the kit would be out of order, or with missing items, things like that. Then we would have to put things on back order, wait for it to come in, and it was keeping them from doing their job."

Each kit gets about 40 uses, which he said will last them quite a while.
