Police: Man raped, threatened victim with knife

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are investigating the reported rape of a woman after she was threatened with a knife.

Police responded to S. Gee Street at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving calls about a sexual assault.

When they arrived they spoke to the victim who lives in Lake City, but was visiting a relative in Jonesboro, according to the incident report.

The victim told police she went to the apartment, belonging to a friend of a relative to help the woman color her hair.

She was unaware that the woman's son would be present at the apartment when she arrived.

When she finished doing the woman's hair, the woman left the room.

The victim told police that the man then put his hand inside her shirt and she told him to stop.

The man then asked her to come into the bathroom because he wanted to show her something and when she entered he locked the door and pushed her down some steps.

The man ripped the victim's shorts and climbed on top of her.

When the victim screamed for help the man held a small knife to her throat and told her to stop yelling.

After the rape, the woman wrapped her clothing in a plastic sack to give to police.

A rape kit was completed and turned in as evidence.
