PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - The Paragould High School auditorium is getting a facelift this summer.
The auditorium will have new seats, new carpet, a fresh coat of paint and new LED lighting when students return from the summer.
Paragould School District Superintendent Debbie Smith said they needed new seating which started this renovation.
"We needed to replace the seats. We had seats that were no repairable anymore and we couldn't get the parts so we decided this is a good time to replace all the seats," Smith said.
Since the seats were taken out the board approved new carpets, paint and lighting as well.
Smith said the funds for this project were already in the school budget.
"I budgeted for special projects across the district and so this was already in the district budget for the summer and we were able to start the project right after the kids left," Smith said.
Smith said the project will be completed by the end of the summer.
"We are really looking forward to it, I hope the kids are excited I don't know that they know it is happening unless they have been up in the high school this summer but I think they are going to be very pleased when they walk in on August 15," Smith said.
The new auditorium will also include aisles, which were not there before.
Smith said they will loose a few seats due to the aisles, but it will help people have better access to the rows.
