LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A local tire shop owner helped a National Guard member during training.

Several members are in Walnut Ridge for summer training and this week a service member in training had a flat tire at the armory.

Someone noticed the flat and called Mike Day at Mike's Tire Service in Hoxie to see if he could help.

Mike and his employees were more than happy to help and came to change the tire.

"We went up and changed it and didn't charge him. He is a fighter for us, and we love him for it," Day said.

Day changed the tire before the member even came out from training, so he did not have to change it himself.

Day said he likes helping the community, especially for someone who gives his service for this country.

"I want to help anyone in need. A lot of people need it, and we don't mind to help," Day said.

Day said community means a lot to him, and he even does things outside of his tire service to help others.

"We have this wrestling business behind us too, and we do a lot of benefits back there. We also have some dunk tanks that we rent or loan out for benefits," Day said.
