POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

The farming season is well underway in Region 8 and it is keeping aviation mechanics busy.

Late Aviation Repair opened up at the Pocahontas Municipal Airport less than a year ago.

Owner Kevin Late said though they are most busy with aviation repair in the winter, crop dusters are keeping them busy right now.

"We work on aircraft, ranging from piston singles all the way through turbine ag planes, King Airs, anything of that sort," Late said.

Late said crop dusters are supposed to be inspected every 100 hours they fly.

This time of year, Late estimated that they put 10 to 12 hours on the engine each day.

"Every day this time of year, we're doing routine maintenance," Late said. "Anything that breaks, we just get them back in the air."

Late said he doesn't just work on planes from this area either. A plane from Cairo, Illinois showed up at his shop Friday. The day before, a plane left his shop for Rochelle, Illinois, which is nearly 500 miles north of Pocahontas.
